The forging group makes great demands with respect to the availability of the network infrastructure: "Every day we supply our customers in the automotive industry just in time, right to the production line. If the network were to crash our logistics would not be able to access the SAP system and the lorries could not be loaded in the factory yards in the morning," explains Timo Piepenbring, the project coordinator responsible at Mahindra Forgings Europe.
Multi-carrier model for redundant location connection
To guarantee network operations at all times, Pironet NDH Datacenter has equipped each location with an additional access which is implemented by a different provider from the main line. "In contrast to the big network operators who only market their own infrastructure, the multi-carrier model of Pironet NDH offers us considerably greater flexibility, reliability and area coverage," says Timo Piepenbring. A 24-hour service also guarantees technical support at the weekend and at night.
In addition, the MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) technology used in the corporate network ensures ideal utilisation of the available bandwidth and high performance, above all in business-critical applications such as SAP. "This provides an effective means to avoid restrictions to the access speed," adds Timo Piepenbring. "At the same time the new network infrastructure gives us the option of also introducing state-of-the-art delivery models such as Software as a Service or cloud computing considerably faster in the future and to use them more effectively."
