KTB import/export trading company uses IT resources for ERP software from the business-cloud
Virtual computing power replace dedicated servers
Rather than conventional outsourcing and ERP operation on dedicated physical server hardware, KTB has now opted for virtual computing power and storage services provided at their ICT service provider's highsecurity data center. These services are dynamically scalable according to processor performance, working memory and storage capacity. By outsourcing the services, the company can not only reduce operational costs for the ERP application, but also flexibly adjust the server and storage resource respectively, which further cuts costs. The necessary capacity for the operation of the application is increased or shut down according to need, temporary peak demand periods are dynamically managed and expensive idle capacity on the server level is eliminated.
KTB Europe is also connected to the data center via the corporate network provided by Pironet NDH, offering secure and quick access to applications and data.
Consistent service levels for application and network operation
KTB's ERP software solution manages all central supply and stock handling processes for industrial customers all over the world. KTB has offices in the U.S., Latin America and Asia. "An important factor for the decision in favour of outsourcing was the provision of reliable services across all application, network and infrastructure levels. With Pironet NDH Datacenter, we have found an outsourcing partner to provide us with a complete solution. Thanks to Pironet NDH's application portfolio and its own data center and network infrastructure, we are guaranteed continuous availability", comments Lars Kitzinger, Managing Director and Partner at KTB.
Cloud services for SMBs
KTB is one of the first customers to utilize the business cloud services introduced recently by Pironet NDH Datacenter. The provider of ICT services is now offering companies, and SMBs in particular, with an option to reduce the costs of outsourcing projects through cloud computing.
Along with standard applications in a Softwareasaservice model, customers may now use cloud services for individually provided systems through ondemand access to virtual IT resources.
"Cloud services offered on the market today are usually highly standardized, single solutions, like CRM systems or purely online hard drive space. This is not the ideal solution for SMBs with small IT departments, as they often do not find an option to map their own specific needs and the coordination of various isolated applications from the cloud must be provided inhouse in the end", explains Udo Faulhaber, Managing Director Sales at Pironet NDH Datacenter. "With the business cloud, we pursue a mixed model in which we integrate standardized elements from cloud computing into an individual outsourcing project. This way, our customers are able to build their own solution scenarios and achieve a comprehensive service level guarantee for their entire IT landscape at the same time".
