Mobile ERP access to Microsoft Dynamics NAV More than 200 employees worldwide are already working with the applications from the Pironet NDH Data Center. These include not only standard office applications such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange, but above all the enterprise resource planning solution (ERP) Microsoft Dynamics NAV which enables all operation processes to be controlled and monitored.
The Goldschmidt Thermit Group is one of the very first companies to use the new Web Services of Microsoft Dynamics. Tectura, as a partner of Pironet NDH, developed a solution for this purpose which permits mobile access to the ERP system's order management. The construction teams thus receive their orders on mobile terminals and can collect the data of the services they have provided on site and directly in the ERP system.
Worldwide data network via the corporate network To ensure secure, highperformance access to all services, Pironet NDH is networking the Goldschmidt Thermit headquarters in Leipzig, the locations in Essen and Halle (Saale), and the plants in Austria, Brazil, Australia, China and the USA via a corporate network to form a comprehensive global network. The MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) technology used here provides Goldschmidt Thermit with a high throughput for interruptcritical services such as voice communication using Voice over IP and other networkbased valueadded services.
A VoIP telephone system provided in the Pironet NDH Data Center permits voice communication over the IP network and free phone calls between the company's subsidiaries. Thanks to the centrally operated system, employees who are temporarily working abroad can still be reached via their national number. At the same time the corporate locations utilise a central and specially protected internet access in the Pironet NDH Data Center via the joint network.
Endtoend SLAs and ITILbased processes For all services procured from Pironet NDH, the Goldschmidt Thermit Group obtains endtoend Service Level Agreements as well as IT Service Management based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) that precisely and comprehensively regulate all processes, and especially the cooperation and communication with the service provider.
Goldschmidt Thermit is planning to continue the IT consolidation strategy it has begun.
