Bank-Verlag: Linux Migration and SAP System Operation by Pironet NDH

IT Service Management in line with ITIL guarantees optimal information technology processes

(PresseBox) (Köln, )
Pironet NDH is to take on immediate responsibility for the maintenance and smooth operation of the SAP application for the publishing house, Bank-Verlag, a 100% subsidiary of the Bundesverband deutscher Banken (Federal Association of German Banks). An important component of the future collaboration is comprehensive IT service management in line with ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) best practices. Bank-Verlag can thus rely on precisely defined service level agreements (SLA) and the best possible running and support processes. At the same time, the publishing house will benefit from the preventive security solutions in the Pironet NDH data center, effectively avoiding losses at system, server and network levels.

Within the framework of the project, the Enterprise Resource Planning software, SAP, has been implemented in the Pironet NDH data center. More specifically, this refers to the following SAP modules: SD (for sales), MM (for purchasing), CO (for controlling) and FI (for financial book-keeping).

Whereas the server that was hitherto in use employed the Unix operating system, the new hardware runs under the Linux Distribution from Red Hat. "The heterogeneous SAP migration, including all testing, was completed in full and without any problems within just four months, thanks to the combined strengths of the experts from Pironet NDH and SAP AG," explains Utz Uecker, the responsible SAP consultant of Bank-Verlag GmbH. "We are thoroughly satisfied, particularly since we now have a system at our disposal that offers considerably higher performance – at reduced costs."

In addition to this, Bank-Verlag will now benefit from more customer-oriented information technology processes, thanks to the ITIL-based IT Service Management. This includes, for example, Incident Management, Release Management and Change Management. "When medium-sized companies such as the Bank-Verlag decide in favor of a partnership with Pironet NDH, they benefit from an optimal level of IT service management that is otherwise the preserve of large companies and corporate groups," explains Khaled Chaar, the director responsible for ICT Outsourcing at Pironet NDH.
