Agilent Technologies and Pickering Interfaces Introduce Adaptor that Shows All LXI Trigger Bus Channels on Single Oscilloscope Display

(PresseBox) (Sasbach, )
-- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and Pickering Interfaces Ltd. today introduced a wired trigger bus (WTB) adaptor that allows Agilent 6000 and 8000 Series mixed signal oscilloscopes (MSOs) to show the logical state and analog representations of all eight LXI WTB channels on a single display. This is the only adaptor on the market able to do this.

The LXI WTB adaptor provides a simple and elegant method of exchanging trigger signals between LXI devices that use the WTB. It replaces ad hoc trigger systems commonly seen in GPIB-based automated test systems where instruments can exchange proprietary triggers between devices using coaxial cables and other digital I/O connections. The LXI WTB provides a way of exchanging these trigger signals with a standardized interface that eliminates the makeshift wiring, signal routing, switching and level buffering over distances exceeding 10 m with low latency and high speed.

“This is a great example of how companies are collaborating to provide the best experience for users of the new LXI standard,” said Scott Sampl, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s System Products Division. “This adaptor is one more tool that will help engineers develop test systems quickly.”

“Our 60-981 and 60-990 adaptors are valuable debugging tools for LXI test systems that support the WTB system,” said David Owen, business development manager for Pickering Interfaces. “They make it easy for integrators and users to see what is happening on all the WTB channels simultaneously using a simple interface that exploits the powerful digital features of the Agilent 6000 and 8000 Series MSOs.”

Further Information

Pickering Interfaces’ new 60-990 adaptor connects directly to an Agilent MSO 40-pin connector via an Agilent lead and to the LXI WTB via standard WTB cable assemblies. The Agilent MSO provides the power for the 60-990 adaptor. Using the digital channel input for the MSO oscilloscope, the logical state of all eight LXI WTB channels can be simultaneously displayed. Using a Pickering Interfaces 60-981 WTB probe, the analog waveforms of a LXI WTB channel can be simultaneously displayed.

Agilent 6000 and 8000 Series MSOs measure a combination of signal types and speeds with two or four analog channels and 16 logic channels that are tightly integrated. More information about the Agilent 6000 and 8000 Series oscilloscopes is available at www.agilent.com/find/scopes
