PHOTON's Thin-Film Production Equipment Conference: How to lower module manufacturing cost

(PresseBox) (Aachen, )
While demand for PV systems has never been as high as it is today, thinfilm module producers face a challenging business environment - as shown by the recent bankruptcy filing of Germanybased Sunfilm AG. In order to compete with lowcost crystallinesilicon module manufacturers, thinfilm companies not only need to produce at the highest possible efficiencies, yields and uptimes, but they also need to expand quickly to the next level.

At PHOTON's 5th PV Production Equipment Conference (Part 2 - Thin Film), held in Stuttgart, Germany on April 29, experts will discuss the financial aspects of thinfilm production and companies will present the latest in processing materials and equipment needed to produce thinfilm modules - from amorphous and micromorph silicon to copperindiumdiselenide (CIS) and cadmiumtelluride (CdTe) panels.

The conference will provide an overview of:

- Absorbers: Recent developments in research and machines for depositing absorber layers on thinfilm modules (silicon, CdTe and CIS)
- Substrates and TCOs : Glass and flexible module substrates as well as metal contacts
- Automation and factory planning: Facility and line designs for highquality production
- Case studies: Promising new thinfilm manufacturers will present their approaches to lowcost thinfilm module manufacturing (e.g. Uni Solar, Solar Frontier, T-Solar)
