Telia wins the P3 connect Mobile Benchmark in Sweden

Telia’s results are “outstanding”, Tele2, Telenor and Tre show score increases.

(PresseBox) (Aachen, )
P3, the international leader in benchmarking mobile networks, in co-operation with connect, an international telecommunication test magazine for consumers, have named Telia as the “best in test” operator in the latest P3 connect Mobile Benchmark in Sweden. Following a series of both drivetests and walktests as well as crowdsourcing measurements, Telia does not only manage to lead in all tested disciplines, but achieves the highest score measured by P3 in Sweden so far.

The P3 connect Mobile Benchmark in Sweden has traditionally shown strong results. This trend continues in 2019, with all operators improving over their scores from the previous test – Telia, Tele2 and Tre with considerable score increases. Telia wins the renowned benchmark for the third time in a row. The largest Swedish operator achieves the grade “outstanding”, Tele2 and Telenor “very good”, followed by Tre with the grade “good”.

The clear winner of this year’s benchmark is Telia with a score of 969 out of 1,000 points – leading the field in the voice, data and crowd categories. Tele2 ranks second with 924 points, showing the biggest score improvement over the previous test. While most of its score increase is won in the voice discipline, Tele2 also improved in the data measurements. With a score of 859 points Telenor ranks third, showing a similar data performance as the second ranking Tele2, but losing valuable points due to limited results in the voice category. Tre, the smallest Swedish operator, ranks fourth with 848 points but with overall good results. Compared to our previous test, Tre achieved a considerable score increase.

The 2019 P3 connect Mobile Benchmark in Sweden consists of drivetests and walktests conducted from February 21 to March 23, 2019. Two drive test cars together covered about 10,500 kilometres, visiting 20 cities and 27 towns. Additionally, a walktest team visited eight cities. The test areas account for approximately 4.3 million people, or about 43.9 percent of Sweden’s total population. The methodology of the P3 connect Mobile Benchmark is the result of more than 15 years of testing mobile networks. Today, network tests are conducted in more than 80 countries. The methodology was carefully designed to evaluate and objectively compare the performance and service quality of mobile networks from the users’ perspective.

Hakan Ekmen, CEO P3 communications, explains: “Telia is the overall winner of this year’s P3 connect Mobile Benchmark Sweden with the highest score ever measured in Sweden, reaching the grade ‘outstanding’ for the very first time. But there is also great news for the customers of the other Swedish mobile operators: Each of them managed to improve their scores on an already high level of performance – Tele2 and Tre even considerably .”

The P3 connect Mobile Benchmark is totally independent combining the expertise of P3, the industry’s advocate and global authority regarding measuring network performance, with more than 25 years of editorial experience and testing knowledge of connect that is regarded as a leading consumer authority in Europe. The independent benchmark methodology of P3 assures a fair, transparent and neutral evaluation of the networks under test. The benchmark is positioned to be a unique measure for management and supervisory boards to compare their networks with others, and for customers to get a better understanding of how the different networks are performing.
