Ausbau der Serverstrukturen
Unter dem Atlantik fließen schon jetzt täglich mehr als 12 Petabyte durch das Netzwerk von OVH, das in den letzten Jahren bereits kontinuierlich ausgebaut wurde. Über zahlreiche Points of Presence (Knotenpunkte innerhalb eines Kommunikationssystems) in den USA verbindet es die nordamerikanischen mit den 14 europäischen Rechenzentren der Gruppe. Dies ist Teil der internationalen Wachstumsstrategie von OVH. Bereits im September 2015 hatte CEO Laurent Allard beim Summit in Paris einen weltweiten Ausbau der Netzwerkkapazitäten angekündigt.
Fortschritt für den Kunden
„Die Verbindung wirkt sich insbesondere für Kunden mit Webseiten in den USA positiv aus. Vor allem im E-Commerce führt eine Latenz von 67 ms zu einer deutlichen Reduktion der Latenzzeiten“, so Antoine Guenet, Mitarbeiter im OVH-Netzwerkteam. „Durch diese neue Verbindung können Informationen jetzt viel schneller ausgetauscht werden“. Mit amerikanischen Anbietern wie Comcast, Cox, Bell und Videotron hat OVH entsprechende Verträge für PNI (private network interconnections) geschlossen, um eine direkte Verbindung mit dem eigenen Netzwerk herzustellen.
