The EASI-CLOUDS project is performed within the pan-European, industry-driven research program "Information Technology for European Advancement" (ITEA2) to enhance research excellence in software-intensive systems and services for the European industry. The German partners participating in the project are supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with public funding. Orga Systems is developing a specific "Billing as a Service" (BaaS) for the project - a billing service that can be booked and used in the Cloud as a "Software as a Service". Target group are Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) who do not want to forgo the benefits of a professional billing system, but would like to reduce the efforts and costs involved for hosting, service and maintenance.
Configuration of price plans in a simple way
Orga Systems' BaaS enables CSPs to configure their price plans via a Web-GUI in a simple way. Furthermore, they receive a customized Application Programming Interface (API) for easy and flexible integration into their own services on the different layers of the Cloud Computing stack, i.e., on the levels of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
Orga Systems will showcase its latest results as well as future plans and new ideas at ITEA & ARTEMIS Co-summit 2013, taking place next week, 4th to 5th December 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden (http://www.itea2.org/...).
About EASI-CLOUDS
Cloud Computing is now the dominant Information System solution and its fully service-based business model appeals to an overwhelming majority of Information System decision makers. However, there are still several technological challenges to be addressed and current solutions are far from satisfying the needs of all stakeholders: cloud providers, services and applications developers and providers, as well as end-users.
Therefore, the objective of ITEA2 EASI-CLOUDS is to provide a comprehensive cloud computing infrastructure, future pillar of this fast growing market. The EASI-CLOUDS infrastructure will feature the three classical categories of cloud computing offerings - Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a- Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) - with superior reliability, elasticity, security and easeof- use characteristics at all levels. Moreover, to promote an efficient, trusted system, this cloud infrastructure will include:
- Standardized interfaces allowing service portability,
- A powerful service composition and orchestration framework,
- Facilities for cloud interoperability and federation,
- Advanced SLA (Service Level Agreement) management to help guarantee the required QoS (Quality of Service),
- Facilities for capacity planning, provisioning, accounting, and billing that are needed to operate a true cloud services market place and an efficient pay-per-use business model.
