Flip Over 5-Axis is a seminar and workshop event focused on introducing 5-axis techniques to people currently working with 3- and 4-axis machine tools. Through straight-forward CAM software programming approaches and intuitive user interface on NC controls, customers can program, set-up and machine complex parts with fewer set-ups and higher quality than typical with multi-operation procedures and complex work offsets to reach multiple faces. "The obstacles to entering 5-axis programming are not large. And they are widely used in today's market", states Alan Levine, Managing Director of OPEN MIND Technologies USA Inc.
The presentation format includes short verbal presentations, cutting of two typical parts on DMU 50 milling machine. One part uses 3+2 indexing approaches, and the other part also includes 5-axis simultaneous machining. The cutting is followed by a panel discussion lead by customers that have recently adopted 5-axis technology, who will provide their stories and take questions from the audience. A raffle prize is also offered to the attendee who can best estimate the machining time of the 3+2 component.
Upcoming event dates include November 6 in Indianapolis, and November 13 in Charlotte. Additional dates are also being scheduled as the tour continues into 2015. Registration can be found on Ellison web site. DMG Mori provides milling machines, lathes, and multi-tasking machines in many sizes and for many applications.
hyperMILL® brings together innovative 5-axis techniques, together with strong 2.5D and 3-axis solutions, and mill-turn in a consistent programming environment. Well known for complex 5-axis applications, hyperMILL® also provides streamlined processing and cost-effective solutions for multi-sided machining. A start-up utility automatically defines and names standard programming faces, stock and milling areas. Feature recognition can quickly search the model and map holes and pockets, and define reference coordinate systems.
Visitors will be able to meet with OPEN MIND staff and view software demonstrations during the event.
