Amprion GmbH Selects Omada Identity Suite for Identity Management and Access Governance

(PresseBox) (Darmstadt, )
Amprion GmbH operates a transmission network system with voltage levels of 380,000 and 220,000 volts. The key task of its 1,100 employees is to transmit electricity at competitive prices safely and reliably. Amprion owns the highest voltage grid in Germany, spanning approximately 11,000 km and 160 substations, and is an important part of the transmission network in Germany and in Europe. From its central location in Europe, the transmission grid of Amprion GmbH is a major hub for European electricity trading between North and South and between East and West. As responsible for one of the largest grid areas in Europe, Amprion assumes an important factor in the European interconnected grid.

In October 2015, Amprion GmbH initiated an identity management project and selected Omada’s solution "Omada Identity Suite". Omada was selected due to its profound implementation experience from more than 170 identity management projects, combined with its great industry insight in the utility sector. In addition, key deciding factors were the modern architecture and great flexibility of the solution.

As a first step, Amprion plans to launch and operate an "Amprion Corporate Directory" (ACD). The ACD will provide a central data directory for Amprion’s internal and external employees. The establishment of the ACD will ensure that regular updates are managed correctly in connected target systems and applications. The solution also includes the option to further expand functionality with automated provisioning and self-service processes.

As an important European infrastructure operator, access risk management is essential. Amprion sees clear potential in the further development, implementation and utilization of identity management and access governance.
