"As HD LCD TVs offer increased functionality, it's ideal for Loewe to add features such as digital recording and time-shifted playback that ensure the same picture quality level from recorded as well as live content on our new hybrid LCD TV models," said Dr. Uwe Bach, head of TV development at Loewe. "The SAA7164 solution from NXP will allow our customers to record and watch all types of analog sources such as movies or their favorite TV shows at any time, pause live TV or skip within time-shift recorded content without the need for an additional STB."
"Loewe's choice of the SAA7164 system-on-chip with advanced 3D comb-filtering and noise reduction is in line with Loewe and NXP's ambition to offer more content with the highest possible picture quality on television sets, whether it is broadcast or recorded," said Rolf-Dieter Gutsmann, product marketing manager, TV systems, NXP Semiconductors.
The NXP SAA7164 integrates up to 8 standalone chips: two IF demodulators, two PAL/NTSC/SECAM decoders, two stereo decoders, plus two multi-format compression engines.
