Die BLB (Bayerische Landesbank), Caja Madrid (Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Madrid), Commerzbank AG und Rabobank (Coöperatieve Centrale Raiffeisen-Boerenleenbank B.A.) werden gemeinsam ein Exportkreditdarlehen von bis zu 90 Millionen Euro finanzieren, im Rahmen einer Exportkreditversicherung von Euler Hermes.
Die Baukosten für das 30 MW Kraftwerk belaufen sich auf 120 Millionen Euro. Das Exportkreditdarlehen wird den Export und Aufbau von Novatec’s 300.000 m2 großen Solarfeld sowie die Ausfuhr von Schlüsselkomponenten des Kraftwerksblocks aus Deutschland und der Europäischen Union beinhalten.
Die Fremdfinanzierung soll bis Anfang nächsten Jahres abgeschlossen sein.
Das Projekt PE 2, an dem der Schweizer Energiekonzern Elektra Baselland mehrheitlich beteiligt ist, wird in der Region Murcia, Südspanien, gebaut werden. In direkter Nähe befindet sich das 1,4 MW Demonstrationskraftwerk PE 1, das seit März 2009 an das spanische Stromnetz angeschlossen ist und die erfolgreiche Umsetzung von Novatec’s direkt verdampfender Fresnel -Kollektortechnik unter Beweis stellt.
