Nordeon Group acquires Philips Lighting site in Dijon

Philips Lighting, part of Royal Philips Electronics N.V. has decided to sell its site in Dijon to the Nordeon Group per November 4th, 2013. The site will operate under its new name NORDEON DIJON. The acquisition will significantly strengthen Nordeon's position in the area of specialty lighting (i.e. lighting products for special situations) and provide the Nordeon Group with a logistics and customer services hub for its lighting and installerdirect.com activities for Southern Europe.

STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE


With a keen eye on its market and customer requirements, The Nordeon group is continuously investing in further developing its activities in Lighting. This acquisition provides the group with a strategic hub for its installerdirect.com activities in Southern Europe and it further strengthens Nordeon's portfolio of specialty lighting products.

Installerdirect.com - part of the Nordeon group - is an online wholesale platform for lighting and lighting related products for installers in Europe. The platform's key objective is to help the installer develop and improve its business by providing them with
- a full range of high quality, competitively priced lighting and lighting related products from most leading manufacturers;
- with a state of the art logistics and customer services operations;
- and solid technical and sales support services and tools.

The site in Dijon has a very strong track record and team in the area of logistics and distribution for Southern Europe and has an experienced, highly qualified customer services team. As such it is an important platform for further strengthening installerdirect.com in Southern Europe.

Specialty lighting is an important product category within Nordeon's wide range of lighting products for the industrial, retail, office and outdoor markets, to strengthen its position in the lighting market. The acquisition of the Dijon site will help Nordeon to expand its portfolio of specialty lighting products with lamps for specific markets and applications; such as special colour temperature lamps, and lamps for extreme cold or hazardous environments. Nordeon will continue to carry a broad portfolio, to remain a relevant partner for its customers.

In October of this year the Nordeon group acquired Hess.

The Nordeon Group employs in excess of 650 employees and has five manufacturing sites (Springe and Villingen in Germany, Chalon and Dijon in France and Gaffney SC in the USA), it is headquartered out of Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
