BMW has decided to adopt the Smart-Shelf solution from nextLAP (www.nextlap.io). nextLAP is a specialist in IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) solutions, including Smart-Shelf, an intelligent system for digitising and automating all types of order-picking processes. After a successful pilot project, BMW is now rolling out the solution for production operations at its Leipzig plant.

nextLAP’s Smart-Shelf solution allows material flows, ergonomics and inventories to be optimised – using real-time data. The solution includes IoT buttons with LED screen, controller and a screen or tablet. Storage racks and areas are equipped with IoT components and connected to nextLAP’s IP/1 platform. Here, all data is collected centrally and processed in real time.

The solution helps automotive manufacturers to ensure the quality of all their order-picking processes, to achieve savings on standard costs for order-picking processes (routes, ergonomics, process times, etc.) and much more.
