NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) hat heute sein Angebot für die Übernahme von Data Domain (NASDAQ: DDUP) revidiert. Dem Angebot(1) zufolge will NetApp alle umlaufenden Aktien des Data Domain Stammaktienbestands für 30 US-Dollar pro Aktie in bar und Aktien übernehmen. Die Transaktion wird mit zirka 1,9 Milliarden US-Dollar bewertet, auschließlich Data Domains Cash und unter Vorbehalt bestimmter Anpassungen.

Das Data Domain-Portfolio ergänzt das Angebot von NetApp, so dass das Unternehmen seine Position im Markt für heterogenes Disk-basiertes Backup ausweiten kann. Mit der Übernahme von Data Domain wird NetApp seine Fähigkeit steigern, vom Wachstum bei Disk-basiertem Backup zu profitieren, einem Trend, der von den Kostenvorteilen der Deduplizierung getrieben wird.
NetApps Angebot für Data Domain ist EMCs ungebetenem Angebot auch deshalb überlegen, da es einerseits Wertbeständigkeit bietet und andererseits den Data Domain-Aktionären Gelegenheit gibt, am künftigen Erfolg der Einheit aus NetApp und Data Domain teilzuhaben.
