The two companies partner in realizing frictionless direct-to-bill payments for Google's Play Store on Android. With Google’s Direct Carrier Billing, customers of “3” will be enabled to purchase digital goods including apps, movies, books and more conveniently via their mobile phone bill.
With the agreement covering the integration and operation for several 3 Mobile Operators, the new payment option has already been successfully rolled out for mobile users of “3” in Sweden, Ireland and Hong Kong, with other markets to follow soon after.
Through the aggregation of all respective payment interfaces of each 3 Mobile Operator, net mobile AG now offers one unified API for the 3 Group, making it easier than ever to onboard other Over-The-Top players and content providers.
"We are happy to announce our partnership with the Hutchison group with the official launch of Google Carrier Billing in three markets. This underlines the commitment of both companies to make the most out of the opportunities lying ahead of us" says Theodor Niehues, CEO of net-m.
Sebastian Böhm, VP Global Business Solutions at net-m concludes: "With several integrations accomplished successfully and in working with carriers throughout Europe and Asia, net-m has become the most experienced enabler for Google’s Direct Carrier Billing globally. Our payment platform has proven to reduce the technical complexity and efforts for our partners, allowing for a cost effective and quick integration of mobile payment for multiple app stores."
