METRICS is one of the Marie Curie Actions' Initial Training Network project which aims to offer early-stage researchers the opportunity to improve their research skills, join established research teams and enhance their career prospects. As a part of METRICS project, NLE will provide one PhD position and one post-doc position for research communities to accelerate its research on systems and algorithms for real-time mining of large data sets.
The METRICS research areas include high speed fixed network measurement, large-scale mobile network active and passive measurement, data centre measurement, data analysis and modeling, quality of experience, privacy-preserving sharing of traffic measurements, measurements to assess the impact of machine-to-machine traffic and measurement enhanced network management.
METRICS invites applications for 13 PhD positions and one post-doc position, and will give each of its candidates the unique opportunity to experience working for a varied set of institutions, both in academia and industry. The candidates will experience different research environments and different supervisors. In addition to their host institution, METRICS candidates will spend a period of three months at another METRICS partner, and three months at least in one of the METRICS associate partner institution.
"Coming into direct contact with a number of world-renowned researchers in the field will not only contribute to a high-quality training experience, but will also form important links crucial to the candidates' future professional career. This represents a unique environment for young researchers interested in Internet Measurement," said Heinrich Stüttgen, Vice President NEC Laboratories Europe, NEC Europe Ltd.
