ZON TVCabo, a subsidiary of ZON Multimedia and Portugal's largest triple-play operator and Jungo Ltd, an NDS Group company and leading provider of software solutions for residential gateways, today announced that ZON HUB™ home and small office gateways are now available to the Portuguese market. The new gateways are based on Jungo’s OpenRG™ and OpenSMB™ middleware solutions and JRMS™ (Jungo Remote Management System) and SCR™ (Support Cost Reduction). Launch of the product was completed in December 2009, a remarkable six month turnaround.
The newly introduced gateways are the cornerstone of the ZON TVCabo offering; they are expected to become the dominant triple-play gateways in Portugal by end of Q1 2010. This milestone underlines the remarkable success of the service, with a rapid increase in subscriber demand for DOCSIS 3.0 gateways and service packages offered by ZON TVCabo.
DOCSIS 3.0-based solutions enable cable providers to build and enhance their presence and service uptake within the subscriber's multi-service digital home. Jungo's hardware agnostic gateway middleware will also be deployed in ZON TVCabo's next generation gateways, to be launched at the end of the year.

The stylish and simple to set-up gateways have been developed through close collaboration between ZON TVCabo and Jungo. Jungo's middleware solutions enable the roll out of advanced and extremely practical offerings that enrich the broadest spectrum of multimedia packages, including complete broadband access, 802.11n wireless signal within and outside of the home, IP telephony, highly secure high-speed internet access, print sharing, file sharing and UpNP AV media sharing, all without the need for additional devices.
Small business users benefit from Jungo's "office-in-a-box" solution that delivers a wide-range of valuable business features such as advanced PBX over SIP capabilities for multiple users as well as two PacketCable voice ports for fax and a credit card swipe reader, all with minimized setup and maintenance costs.

The gateways are free of charge to all new residential and business broadband customers and have a price of 25€ for existing customers who wish to upgrade their existing gateways.
