NDS Expands Hardware Choice and Functionality for Teleclub in Switzerland

(PresseBox) (Middlesex, )
.
- Teleclub selects NDS’ VideoGuard® technology for CI+ modules
- NDS enables the introduction of HD PVR functionality through an external hard drive

NDS today announced that it is supporting Teleclub, the leading premium pay-TV operator in Switzerland, in the expansion of their platform to enable additional functionality and extended hardware choice.

Teleclub are expanding choice for their subscribers through the introduction of Common Interface Plus (CI+) modules based on the NDS VideoGuard® conditional access (CA) system, and HD Digital Video recorder (DVR) functionality with the addition of an approved external hard drive.

CI+ allows consumer electronics manufacturers to launch a wide range of devices, such as integrated digital TV-sets and set-top boxes that can easily and securely provide access to Teleclub content through plug-in CI+ modules. The recently launched modules enable access to all Teleclub programming including HD channels. The modules are being supplied in cooperation with select device manufacturers.

Dr Wilfried Heinzelmann, Member of the Board of Teleclub, said: “Our new CI+ and HD DVR-ready solutions give us the opportunity to reach new target markets and introduce new functionality for our subscribers. CI+ modules provide users with greater flexibility in their hardware choice – and with that more ways to enjoy our service. By employing robust content protection from NDS, we are fulfilling the security requirements of our content partners to ensure that their content remains protected.”

Yves Padrines, NDS Vice President and General Manager EMEA, said: “We are pleased to be enabling Teleclub to extend the reach of their cable platform to embrace further CE devices. This deployment provides Teleclub with the opportunity to securely and flexibly meet consumer demand, in the confidence that the platform remains secure. We look forward to continuing to support Teleclub in future deployments to enhance their service.”

Teleclub currently employs VideoGuard Conditional Access from NDS to secure its digital cable distribution to set-top-boxes for its nationwide service.
