With its massive energy and mineral reserves, Russia is among the leading raw materials suppliers worldwide. Because the world's largest country in terms of land mass, with some 150 million inhabitants, thus far has mainly focused on heavily centralized power generation, the potential for local electric power and renewable energy is vast. By 2020 there are plans to generate more than 11 GW of electrical power from renewable energy. Everywhere in the country, new biogas and combined heat and power plants (CHP plants) are emerging that are intended to guarantee the supply of decentralized energy to remote towns.
The success story of MWM in Russia began in the year 1995, and the outlook is positive: “We expect extraordinary growth for the next five to seven years,” according to MWM GmbH headquarters in Mannheim, Germany.
