eCarTec Award 2011

Bavarian State Prize for Electric Mobility is granted in seven categories and comes with prize money of € 52,500

(PresseBox) (Munich, )
More than 130 years after the invention of the combustion engine the course is now set for future drive concepts. This trend is not only about the development of new drives – the entire chain of added value within vehicle production is affected. In Germany alone, cumulated sales of electric vehicles will increase to 74 billion Euros by 2020 according to estimates. But also energy providers will benefit considerably from this promising development.

To speed up and improve this process, MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH will grant the eCar Tec Award on the occasion of eCarTec 2011, 3. International Trade Fair for Electric Mobility. "We are looking for the most innovative and promising projects and products from the field of electric mobility. By participating, enterprises can outline their innovative competence and gain a valuable marketing instrument to position their products on the market more successfully", states Robert Metzger, organizer of the trade fair eCarTec. "Only those who are at the cutting edge of this trend can benefit from this promising market. And the sales potential is in fact high".

Martin Zeil, Bavaria’s Minister of Economics and patron of the event: "The automotive industry together with the electric industry and mechanical engineering are the pillars of the Bavarian economy. The Federal Government and the Free State of Bavaria have therefore implemented a number of activities to acquire key competence in electric mobility. One important attempt to test the marketability of electrically driven vehicles, for example, is the promotion of a model region, a project that has already been launched in Munich and in the Allgaeu region. In the coming years, we will become involved in the Bavarian model cities of Bad Neustadt a.d. Saale and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the model region E-Wald and in the showcase "Electric Mobility connects Bavaria". To speed up developments in electric mobility, the State Government will again grant the eCarTec Award 2011, the Bavarian state prize for electric mobility. I am looking forward to your participation."

The top-notch jury (Martin Altepost / TÜV Süd Automotive, Dr. Reinhard Kolke / ADAC e.V., Thomas Krause / Chemetall GmbH, Robert Metzger / MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH, Prof. Dr. Josef Nassauer / Bayern Innovativ GmbH, Thomic Ruschmeyer / Bundesverband Solare Mobilität e.V., Markus Schöttle / ATZ Elektronik) will grant the award for electric mobility in the following categories:
- Electric car
- Electric motorcycle
- Electric utility vehicle
- Drive technology, systems electronics, testing systems
- Storage technology, system integration
- Energy, infrastructure, connection technology
- Special award: Moreover, the most sustainable mobility concept of a community/region or a company will be awarded with a special prize.

The winners will be announced at a festive event on the occasion of Night of eMotion on October 18, 2011. The Award is granted by Martin Zeil, Bavarian State Minister for Economy, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology.
