Singapore Airshow: Orders worth some 450 million euros for MTU Aero Engines
The largest contracts were received from India and Qatar: Indian carrier GoAir signed a firm order for 144 PW1100G-JM engines; Qatar Airways awarded a contract covering the supply of 40 GP7000 turbofans for the A380s it has on order. MTU CEO Egon Behle was pleased to see new orders coming in also for 58 V2500 engines: "The contract wins clearly show that the V2500, which is currently the most important commercial engine for MTU, has the potential to remain successful well into the future." The PW1100G-JM, Behle went on to say, had once again proved that it offers airlines compelling reasons to opt for it; its innovative technology, he added, marked a new chapter in the history of engines.
