ATV2: Andockmanöver an ISS perfekt gelungen

Wesentliche Bauteile der Mission stammen von MT Aerospace

Der europäische Raumtransporter ATV2 "Johannes Kepler" ist heute erfolgreich an der Internationalen Raumstation angedockt. Mehrere Stunden dauerte das Manöver, bei dem sich das knapp 20 Tonnen schwere Versorgungsfahrzeug aus anfänglich rund 30 Kilometern Entfernung an die Station annäherte. Ab einer Distanz von 250 Metern brachte ein vollautomatisches System das ATV zentimetergenau an die ISS heran - und dies bei einer Fluggeschwindigkeit von sage und schreibe 28.000 km/h. Über die Lieferung von Treibstoff, Nahrung und weiteren Versorgungsgütern hinaus soll das ATV die ISS mittels sogenannter "Reboost"-Manöver auf einen höheren Orbit heben, was eine wesentliche Voraussetzung für den weiteren Betrieb der Station darstellt.

Unterstützt wird das ATV-Programm mit Hochleistungsprodukten des Luft- und Raumfahrtzulieferers MT Aerospace AG. Das Augsburger Unternehmen ist Technologieführer im Bereich innovative Leichtbauverfahren und entwickelte und fertigte unter anderem Treibstoff-, Gas- und Wassertanks des Versorgungsfrachters. Hierbei kam beispielsweise das bei MT Aerospace patentierte Spinform- Verfahren zum Einsatz, das eine konturgenaue Fertigung leichter Tankschalen in nur einem Arbeitsschritt ermöglicht. Daneben lieferte MT Aerospace bedeutende Teile der lasttragenden Struktur des Raumtransporters. Weitere ATVs sind bereits beauftragt.

Als größter deutscher Zulieferer des Ariane-5-Programms lieferte MT Aerospace auch rund 10 Prozent der Trägerrakete ARIANE 5 ES, die das ATV am 16. Februar sicher auf den Weg zur Raumstation gebracht hatte, darunter die Gehäuse der Feststoffmotoren sowie Treibstofftanks und Tankkomponenten.
