The first 21.5-inch (54.6-cm) Open Frame Monitor with innovative nanosilver-based multi-touch PCT technology

(PresseBox) (Stutensee (Germany), )
With the 21.5-inch (54.6-cm) FPDS-215OF-WF3SLC1 Open Frame Monitor, Gleichmann Electronics are presenting the first model in their new Open Frame product range equipped with the latest nanosilver-based projective/capacitive touchscreen (PCT) technology at the embedded world on Stand 219 in Hall 2.

Unlike conventional indium-tin oxide (ITO)-based PCTs, tiny particles of silver are used as a conductive material in the process used by Gleichmann Electronics. This makes it possible to manufacture extremely thin, elastic touch films. The capacitive resistance is so low that minimal reaction times are guaranteed even if the touch surface is touched through an 8 mm thick glass cover.

With a border of no more than 3.2 mm and a much smaller bonding area between the touch sensor and the flat panel plug than with classical ITO PCTs the films, which are currently available for touch diagonals from 17-inch (43.2-cm) to 24-inch (60.1-cm), are ideal for use in Open Frame Monitors which are currently mainly still fitted with resistive touch screens. The 90 percent light transmission supports optimum display readability.

Behind the FPDS-215OF-WF3SLC1 Open Frame Monitor‘s touch film there is a high-quality LM 215WF3-SLC1 TFT display from LG Display with a full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, 1,000:1 contrast, 250 cd/m² brightness and an LED backlight life of at least 50,000 hours. The enhanced in-plane switching (e-IPS) technology used in its manufacture allows for a short reaction time of just 8 ms in addition to wide vertical and horizontal viewing angles of 178° respectively. A GE Coconut AD graphics card with full HD resolution and VGA D-Sub15, DVI, S-VHS and CVBS interfaces is used.

Further models with screen diagonals of 17-inch (43.2-cm) to 24-inch (60.1-cm), will follow the 54.6 cm (21.5") FPDS-215OF-WF3SLC Open Frame Monitor in the coming months. Various equipment options such as actively cooled housings and displays which can be read even in direct sunlight permit a flexible response to individual customer requirements.

The new Open Frame product line with nanosilver PCT is suitable for a wide range of application areas such as industrial automation, medical technology, multimedia, process measuring and control technology, information technology, signal technology or cash management.

MSC Technologies GmbH

Founded in 1979, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH, which is part of the same group of companies with MSC Vertriebs GmbH, is one of the leading pan-European distributors of electronic assemblies and components. With the early focus on a small number of support-intensive product areas such as displays, optoelectronics and customized rechargeable battery packs, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics was able to build up unique system know-how over a number of years in the sectors previously mentioned. This in-depth technical know-how, which is unusual for a distributor, enables Gleichmann & Co. Electronics as Display Solution Center to support customers on an individual basis according to needs at each stage of the customer’s application development. This support ranges from the traditional product advice and extensive design-in support up to taking over the entire product development.
