The MSC Q7-IMX6PLUS Qseven module family was designed to offer the lowest-cost full-featured i.MX6 ARM Cortex®-A9 implementation available on a Qseven module. As for the company’s existing Q7-IMX6 module family, there can be quad-core, dual-core, dual-lite or single-core processors soldered on the module, along with up to 4GB DDR3L DRAM and an optional eMMC Flash Disk of up to 32GB. Based on the design experience with the previous Q7-IMX6 module family, MSC was able to squeeze the new design so that the latest and most economic components were used for the new module, without sacrificing performance and functionality. As a result, the new modules come with significantly lower prices compared to similar versions of the previous module family. The Q7-IMX6PLUS modules offer almost the same feature set as the previous products, including Gigabit LAN, PCI Express, SATA-II, up to 5x USB 2.0, CAN and a Micro-SD card slot soldered on the module. In contrast to the previous module family, there is now a feature connector implementing the MIPI_CSI-2 camera interface as specified by the Standardization Group for embedded Technologies (SGeT e.V.).
As part of the new MSC Q7-IMX6PLUS family, modules with the new Freescale i.MX 6QuadPlus and i.MX 6DualPlus processors will be offered. The “Plus” processors will offer the same features as the previous ones but come with an improved data throughput, faster DRAM interface and increased graphics performance. MSC will offer a number of module variants based on these new QuadPlus and DualPlus processors along with variants featuring the previous i.MX6Quad, Dual, DualLite and Solo processors.
Samples of the new MSC Q7-IMX6PLUS Qseven module family based on i.MX6Quad, Dual, DualLite and Solo processors are available immediately, while sampling of module variants with the new Freescale i.MX 6QuadPlus and i.MX 6DualPlus processors will begin end of this year.
