MSC Technologies introduces Qseven Rev. 2.0 Starter Kit for Intel Atom E3800 based Modules

(PresseBox) (Stutensee, Germany, )
MSC Technologies, a business group of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, a business region of Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT), introduces a Qseven™ Rev. 2.0 starter kit for its Qseven™ modules with Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 (previously “Bay Trail”). The starter kit is a complete, ready-to-run environment for modules designed to the new Revision 2.0 of the Qseven™ standard, and particularly for MSC Technologies’ new Q7-BT modules which are now entering wide availability.

The starter kit for E3800 based modules features the company’s new Qseven™ Rev. 2.0 application carrier board MSC Q7-MB-EP6 which gives access to most of the module’s key features such as USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, DisplayPort, SATA and UART interfaces. Furthermore the board adds a second GbE LAN interface to the one provided by the Qseven™ module, and also features SD, mSATA and miniPCIexpress card slots as well as TFT backlight control. The Qseven™ Rev. 2.0 starter kit also comprises a power supply and an efficient heatsink for the Q7-BT module family, as well as an extensive “Getting Started” manual. Using the starter kit, the new Qseven™ Rev. 2.0 modules based on the Intel® Atom™ E3800 family can be operational within minutes of receiving the kit.

Customers can select the type of Q7-BT module variant to be used with the starter kit. MSC Technologies is offering a number of modules which are providing a distinct advantage for users of Microsoft® Windows® in featuring a SATA SSD device for flash storage soldered on the module. Both Windows® 7 and 8 cannot be booted from eMMC but are happy to boot from SATA SSD. Other module variants feature a soldered eMMC Flash device, but this can only be used as boot device for operating systems such as Linux and Windows® Embedded Compact 7. Therefore MSC Technologies is offering modules with eMMC Flash and others with SATA SSD, and even some engineering samples featuring both types of Flash device.

The Qseven™ Rev. 2.0 Starter Kit for E3800 modules (MSC Q7-SK-BT-EP6-KIT001) is immediately available. A selection of different Qseven™ modules with E3800 (MSC Q7-BT) is now available, too, and ranges from single-core, dual-core and quad-core processor with variable content of DRAM, eMMC Flash, SATA SSD Flash, USB configuration and others.
