The new high-end modules integrate the 2000E (2.2GHz) or 2002E (1.5GHz) Intel® Celeron® processors with two CPU cores and 2MB cache. The thermal dissipation power (TDP) is 437W (2000E) or 25W. The Intel® HD graphics (GT1) implemented into the processor offers accelerated video coding and decoding functions and supports DirectX 11.1, OpenGL 3.2 and OpenCL™ 1.2.
The MSC C6B-8S module family has three comprehensive Digital Display Interfaces (DDIs) for the connection of three independent displays. The DDIs can be used as DisplayPort 1.2 with multi-stream support or HDMI with a resolution of up to 3800 x 2400 pixels. Furthermore the modules have two embedded DisplayPort interfaces, along with a dual-channel LVDS and CRT interface.
The COM Express™ modules are based on the powerful Intel® 8-Series platform Controller Hubs (PCHs) QM87 (for i5 and i7 processors) or HM86 (i3 and Celeron).
The rich set of I/O capabilities features four fast USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports, seven PCI Express™ x1 channels, a PCI Express™ graphics (PEG) x16 interface for powerful external graphics cards and an LPC bus for legacy I/O interfaces. In addition, Gbit Ethernet, HD audio and four SATA interfaces at up to 6Gb/s are available.
Fast dual-channel DDR3L (1333/1600) SDRAM modules with a maximum storage capacity of altogether 16GB can be plugged into the boards. An Infineon Trusted Platform Module offers a hardware based security functionality according to the Trusted Computing Group (TCG).
For evaluation and quick design-in of the COM Express™ module family, MSC Technologies supplies universal baseboards, starter kits, passive and active cooling solutions. The powerful platform runs under the operating systems Windows® Embedded Standard 7, Windows® 8 and Linux. The AMI UEFI firmware has been implemented on the boards.
