The software and consulting company, MID GmbH, was nominated for a second time by Nuremberg's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills for the top medium‐sized business prize, sponsored by the Oskar Patzelt fund and has once again made it through to the finals. MID qualified for the competition for medium‐sized businesses not only due to its economic success but also for its complex culture of innovation, high‐level of service competence and active customer focus. MID was also assessed on job creation for both employees and students and how it gives back to the community.

The Oskar Patzelt foundation's annual award for the best medium‐sized companies has developed into the most important German competition for medium‐sized companies since it was first established in 1995. More than 1,400 local authorities, institutions and unions nominated 3,589 companies in 2012. A company cannot nominate itself for the award but must be nominated. Only one company for every thousand are nominated in Germany.
