Gemeinsam mit der Hong Kong University of Science and Technology präsentiert Microsoft Research auf der SIGGRAPH 2007 in San Diego Neuheiten im Grafikumfeld. Auf der internationalen Konferenz für Computergrafiken und interaktive Techniken wurde die Studie "Image Deblurring with Blurred/Noisy Pairs" der Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Zusammenarbeit mit Microsoft Research Asien als eine von sechs wichtigsten Untersuchungen der diesjährigen Veranstaltung genannt. In der Studie wird beschrieben, wie Hobby-Fotografen künftig aus einem eher schlechten Bild ein hochwertiges und scharfes Foto entstehen lassen können. Dies ist möglich durch die Kombination eines unscharfen und eines krisseligen Bildes. Diese Untersuchung ist nur eine von mehreren, die Microsoft dieses Jahr auf der Konferenz vorstellen wird. So wurden von Microsoft 14 eigene und 108 Studien eingereicht, bei denen das Unternehmen als Co-Autor fungierte. Von den 14 eigenen Untersuchungen wurden elf mit akademischen Partnern verfasst. Durch die Beteiligung in verschiedenen ACM- und SIGGRAPH-Gremien teilt Microsoft seine Forschungsergebnisse mit Wissenschaftlern.
