SHS Technologies, founded in 2011, owns a system that can be used in manufacturing processes to detect highly complex material and manufacturing defects without interrupting production. This system, known as the "Speed Optical Analyzer System" (SOANA for short) is the only system of its kind that can be used directly in an operating production-line process for quality assurance.
"With the establishment of this innovative system, a new stage in automated quality control and quality assurance is attained", explains Berndt Büsterfeld, Board member for mic sense AG. "The speed and precision of the data processing and its highly complex algorithms represent a fundamental component of the innovation", Büsterfeld continues.
Enterprises in the metal processing and automobile industry have already shown great interest in this product. Thus a test facility was able to be installed at a large German car manufacturer. Enormous savings can be achieved with a successful application particularly with regards to production and material costs. SOANA, based on picture processing, is specially designed to recognise defects on metallic surfaces and to display defects pictures in keeping with the speed of the production belt (processing cycle). The system has a modular concept and can thus be used variably and specifically according to the application. A further option is to integrate it directly in various facilities, such as presses.
Claus-Georg Müller, Chair of the Board for mic AG, comments on the acquisition as follows: "We are very excited with SHS Technologies GmbH to be able to integrate a highly innovative enterprise into our total portfolio and, with the synergies within the mic Group in manufacturing, sales and marketing and service, we will be on hand with support."
