Given these figures EXPO REAL will be occupying six halls with a total of 64,000 square metres of exhibition space. As such the fair is taking up one hall less than at the last event in 2008, but in terms of space it equals that achieved in the growth year of 2007 – despite the fact that this year we are in a recession. In line with this reduction in space, EXPO REAL 2009 is also seeing a decline in the number of exhibitors, of around 14 percent.
One benefit for EXPO REAL this year is the fact that it is taking place in the German property market, which is currently looking more robust than other markets. German participation this year is thus remaining stable, but there is a fall in the proportion of international exhibitors, of around 20 percent (last year: 26 percent), above all from the countries affected most by the crisis.
Joint stands in particular are popular this year at EXPO REAL. Here exhibitors from individual countries, regions or cities get together under one umbrella, to tap into synergies and save costs. The Turkish property market, for example, is represented for the first time at EXPO REAL 2009 at such a stand. Exhibitors there include Emlak Konut GYO A.S. and other Turkish companies such as Avrupa Konutlari, VARYAP Holding and Tulip Development. VARYAP recently picked up two accolades at the International Property Awards for their Meridian residential and commercial project, designed to LEED standard. This Turkish presence at EXPO REAL is enhanced by the first-time appearance of exhibitors Yorum Insaat and Regnum. All of which means that this year Turkey has its largest representation ever at EXPO REAL.
Despite the decline in participation from abroad, a whole series of exciting property markets will be presented at the fair. The biggest international joint stand will be the Holland Property Plaza. Also taking joint pavilions will be Austria, France, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Switzerland, and the cities and regions of Budapest, Vienna, Milan, St Petersburg and Moscow.
EXPO REAL
EXPO REAL, the 12th International Commercial Property Exposition, is being held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 5 to 7 October 2009. It is a networking exhibition for interdisciplinary and international projects and business. It caters to the full spectrum of the real-estate industry: property consultants and project developers, banks and investors, corporate real-estate managers, cities and economic regions, as well as property services providers. The fair´s extensive programme of conference events, featuring some 500 speakers, gives participants valuable insight into the latest trends and innovations in the real-estate market. Around 1,600 exhibitors are expected to take part in EXPO REAL 2009. In 2008 the fair attracted a total of 42,000 participants from 78 countries. The statistics for EXPO REAL are audited by an independent accountant on behalf of the Gesellschaft zur Freiwilligen Kontrolle von Messe- und Ausstellungszahlen (FKM, Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics).
