3D Printing Conference with 40 events over three days

(PresseBox) (Erfurt, )
24 speakers from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA will discuss the most important trends in the 3D Printing sector at the 3D Printing Conference as part of FabCon 3.D in Erfurt. The spectrum will cover everything from printing food, to laser sintering, to whether the consumer market for 3D Printing is on the ropes.

Furniture design and architecture are the topics of the two keynote addresses. Diana Drewes from “Haute Innovation”, the Berlin Economic Development Board for Material and Technology, will reflect on the current rapid switch from conventional production processes to generative technologies such as 3D Printing or laser sintering. Her conclusion is that the increasingly close links between design, production and logistics open up new potential, especially in the field of interior design. The French architect Arthur Mamou-Mani will use current examples to illustrate the influence of digitalisation and 3D Printing on the development of architectonic projects. Just like the builders of medieval cathedrals, the challenge ahead of us today is how to take advantage of new technologies in planning and design.

Other presentations will deal with 3D Printing in the shift from rapid prototyping to digital manufacturing, the use of 3D technology in retail, and will introduce 3D printer creations made from junk.

The conference will also see the selection of the winners of the national school competition Teach the Fabby and the presentation of the Start-up Award to creative entrepreneurs.

Background

The first FabCon 3.D was held at Messe Erfurt in 2013. It serves as an ideal meeting place not just for experts and major players in the 3D Printing industry, but also for semi-professional users and creative start-ups. Exhibitors showcasing their products in Hall 2 of the exhibition centre include manufacturers of 3D printers, suppliers of filament and 3D scanners, and 3D Printing service companies. The 3D Printing conference held alongside the world-class trade fair has quickly established itself as an important international forum in its own right. Key themes for the conference, which attracts international speakers, will include the areas of food printing, design and architecture. Together with its parallel event, Rapid.Tech, it represents a unique combination of trade fairs in Germany focusing on the industrial use of 3D Printing, while also targeting semi-professional users and prosumers. More than 160 exhibitors, 700 conference participants and around 4,000 visitors from 20 countries are expected to attend the two Erfurt 3D Printing fairs from 14 to 16 June 2016.
