Innovative Solutions for Energy Storage Safety

Mersen at EES 2021 in Munich – B6.135

(PresseBox) (St Bonnet de Mure, )
Mersen will present solutions and innovative solutions for batteries and energy storage systems at EES Europe from October 6 – 8, 2021. Following the motto “Innovating Energy Storage”, manufacturers retailers and professional users will come together in Munich at Europe’s leading international trade show for batteries and energy storage systems.

DC fuses
Mersen offers a broad portfolio of products and solutions for all aspects of safe electrical energy storage. At the trade show the globally operating company will present recent additions to its extensive range of DC over-current protection products: aBAT15AA & AD fuses are suitable for 1500 VDC applications with rated currents from 100 to 500 A and conform to the latest IEC 60 269-7 safety standard for battery protection. These innovative fuses can quench fault currents up to 3 times the rated current and up to 250 kA for protection against large short circuits. The aBAT series also features a compact design, low power losses and high cycle strength.

Monitoring bus bars for battery cell connection

With the Infini-Cell Mersen has developed a laminated and ultra-thin single-layer bus bar with interleaved contacts for battery assemblies that is very versatile: The space-saving solution connects not only the battery cells, but also monitors their temperature and voltage, prevents wiring errors and offers protection against shocks and vibrations.

High performance battery thermal management

Mersen has developed a complete range of battery cooling solutions to address applications in various key markets such as EV and e-mobility, Electrical Energy Storage, Electric Marine, Hybrid and Electric Railway Traction, Aeronautics, from low to very high C-rate – a measure of the rate at which a battery is discharged relative to its maximum capacity.

Mersen ultra-thin liquid cold plate is less than 7mm thick with a large size capability (up to 650 x 2000 mm). Its high performance design offers customized liquid channeling to address battery cell homogeneity requirement and provides longer lifetime thanks to flux- and corrosion-free features.
