From AFDX Chip to IFEC Server
Since 2008 MEN Mikro Elektronik has been certified to the EN/AS 9100 aerospace standard and has contributed reliable and robust hardware to airborne applications several times. The company gained in-flight experience with a DAL-B certified control for the cargo load system of the A400M for example and also placed a CPU card in the orbit on board the ISS space station.
MEN is extending its range of COTS components, which are especially designed for aerospace with new innovative products. They will be presented at Aircraft Interiors in Hamburg and Aviation Electronics Europe in Munich.
In addition to well-tried components like the triple-redundant CPU boards in 6U VMEbus and CompactPCI format, this will be products such as the FPGA chip CS1, which can be flexibly used for the implementation of the AFDX protocol within existing networks. The highlight of the shows will be the brand new IFEC server (In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity) MP70S, which is compliant to ARINC 600 and provides reliable and powerful data transmission in an aircraft.
