Increasing importance of metal laser melting

Further investment at toolcraft

(PresseBox) (Georgensgmünd, )
Metal laser melting offers entirely new possibilities - with outstanding efficiency. The benefits of this innovative method are evident: manufacturing of complex geometries, processing difficult-to-machine materials as well as the production of precision parts with considerable time savings and less material wastage.

Additive manufacturing more and more popular

Metal laser melting gains increasing importance. Therefore toolcraft expanded its machine park twice last year. Now four laser melting machines are available for manufacturing precision parts. The resulting quality is convincing and meets even the high requirements in aerospace applications. The company manufactures housing components, complex structures as well as engine components for this sector.

Versatile material base - now Haynes 188

Metal laser melting, in combination with proven core competencies like turning and milling of difficult-to-machine materials, provides crucial benefits. For this reason toolcraft improves the technology continuously and expands its material base.

Besides nickel-based alloys, such as Inconel 718 and Inconel 625, as well as high-grade and tool steels (1.4404, 17-4PH and 1.2709) the company also process the cobalt-based alloy Haynes 188 now. The material is a combination of cobalt, nickel, chromium and tungsten.

Material with different properties

Haynes 188 has excellent high-temperature strength and a very good resistance to oxidizing environments up to 2000°F (1095°C). The material is used in aerospace and motor sports applications and meets the high requirements for the production of engines and industrial gas turbines.

toolcraft AG

As a partner of engineers of almost all industrial sectors Toolcraft manufactures precision parts, assemblies, moulds and injection moulded parts. Industries are for example the semiconductors, optical industry, special machinery manufacturing, motor sports and automotive, medical technology as well as the aerospace sector.

Thereby Toolcraft values long-term business relationships. Part of the corporate philosophy is an intensive cooperation with partners, such as Unicam Software GmbH, YPTI Indonesia, CONCEPT Laser GmbH, Solidpro GmbH. Therefore Toolcraft is able to offer technologically and economically convincing holistic solutions in the shortest possible time.

The medium-sized family-owned company, located in Georgensgmünd and Spalt, was founded in 1989 by Bernd Krebs.
