Bereits existierende Server Anwendungen laufen auf den neuen Plattformen bis zu 50 Prozent schneller als auf Systemen mit Intel® Xeon® Dualcore-Prozessoren mit gleicher elektrischer Leistung. Die Leistungssteigerung steht sofort und ohne das Aufspielen von Software Upgrades zur Verfügung. Moderne Server Software führender Hersteller ist bereits entsprechend ausgelegt.
Der Zugewinn an Performance geht mit gleichzeitig weniger Leistungsaufnahme pro Prozessor einher: Pro Kern werden 12,5 Watt aufgenommen. Das ergibt eine Gesamtenergiebilanz pro Prozessor von 50 Watt. Weniger Energieverbrauch führt gleichzeitig zu weniger Wärmeentwicklung und macht somit die Kühlung der Systeme einfacher. Dadurch reduzieren sich die thermisch bedingten Ausfallszeiten der Server deutlich.
