Virtuelle private Netze (VPN) ermöglichen es dem Nutzer, prinzipiell von jedem Ort übers Internet auf die LyconSys-Router zuzugreifen und über sie eine sichere Verbindung herzustellen (VPN-Gateway). Für diesen Zugang werden unterschiedliche VPN-Protokolle eingesetzt; neuerdings auch IPSec. Im Gegensatz zur Open-Source-Lösung OpenVPN wird IPSec in den meisten Mobilgeräten genutzt. "Mit diesem Update reagieren wir auf den wachsenden Smartphone-Markt und erweitern die Reichweite unserer Produkte. Wir wollen damit insbesondere Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter kleiner Firmen erreichen, die über ihr Smartphone auf das Firmennetz zugreifen wollen, ohne auf Komfort und Sicherheit zu verzichten. Gleichzeitig kann man über VPN-Verbindungen Maschinen oder Anlagen sicher fernwarten und überwachen.", sagt Sven Kreiensen, Geschäftsführer von LyconSys.
Die IPSec-Unterstützung ist als Software-Update für alle LyconSys-Router erhältlich. Das Update ist kostenlos und ab sofort für Kunden verfügbar.
