Logwin supports Save the Children's "Child Friendly Space" for refugee children in Berlin Tempelhof

(PresseBox) (Grevenmacher/Berlin, )
Logwin are supporting the Save the Children foundation with a donation to help set-up and run a 350 m2 "Child Friendly Space" at the former Tempelhof airport grounds. The Branch Managers of the four Logwin offices in Berlin handed over together a sum of €20,000 to the Children´s Rights Organization in support of the project. With this donation, the logistic provider is helping the project to purchase equipment, toys and craft items.

The room has been designed accordingly to an internationally accepted child-protection concept and enables between 60–80 refugee children from different countries to experience daily life in a normal and structured way. Children of 3-12 years are supervised and cared for by trained personnel and are able to play, do craft work and learn German. Up till now "Child Friendly Spaces" have been mainly used in crisis areas and began as a pilot project last year in Berlin. They are aimed at protecting the rights of children and offers them a secure environment.

We are pleased to help the Save the Children project in Tempelhof's Hangar 4 and support children who have to flee from their home countries in need of special care, preferably in a place of peace. This is what this haven can offer them." said Matthias Seltmann, Branch Manager of Logwin Retail Network office in Berlin. In addition to the retail network office, Logwin also have an Air + Ocean freight office as well as two logistic centers in Berlin.

Logwin and Save the Children have often worked together on projects. With this donation, the logistic provider is again supporting refugees as they did, for example, in 2015 when the two organizations collaborated to deliver clothes to Syrian refugees in Gaziantep (Turkey).
