Die Einkopplung und Auskopplung von Licht in/aus optischen Fasern ist nur mit kollimierten Strahlen möglich. Kollimatoren erzeugen parallele Strahlenbündel.

Um die Divergenz des Lichtaustritts aus der optischen Faser auf 3° zu reduzieren, bietet LASER COMPONENTS SMA-Kollimatoren an. Diese können mit Fasern verwendet werden, die einen SMA-Anschluss und eine numerische Apertur NA 0,22 haben (Öffnungswinkel 25,4°).

Die eingebaute Kollimatorlinse mit einem Durchmesser von etwa 6 mm gibt es mit zwei Beschichtungs-Versionen für die Wellenlängen 400 - 2200 nm oder 190 - 2200 nm.
