LASER COMPONENTS konfektioniert in Olching optische Fasern und Kabel nach Kundenwunsch. Die Fertigungsstätte wurde ausgebaut; neue Produktionsmöglichkeiten sind entstanden.

Ein neuer Fasercleaver ermöglicht nun vollautomatische Cleaves, die voll reproduzierbar sind. Die Winkel zur optischen Achse der Faser können zwischen 0° und 15° eingestellt werden. Neue Stecker und erweiterte Technologien bei der Politur erhöhen die Qualität zusätzlich. Bei der Exzentrizität des Faserkerns zum Stift-Außendurchmesser erreicht LASER COMPONENTS mittlerweile Werte < 10 μm. Überprüft wird das mit einem digitalen Messmikroskop, mit dem gleichzeitig untersucht wird, ob die Faser-Enden verkratzt oder verschmutzt sind. Alle Messdaten werden gespeichert, sodass jede Fasern genau zurück verfolgt werden kann.

Eine Spezialität von LASER COMPONENTS ist die Konfektionierung von Faser-Arrays mit kundenspezifischen runden oder eckigen Steckern. Die Arrays verwendet man beispielsweise als Querschnitts-Wandler. Ein- oder mehrlagige Linienarrays mit bis zu 50 Fasern werden dabei in ein rundes Faserbündel gewandelt.
