Polarisation in Singlemode-Fasern gezielt einstellen

In der optischen Nachrichtentechnik und in der Faser-Sensorik ist es oft notwendig, die Polarisation des Lichtes in der Faser zu bestimmen und gezielt zu beeinflussen, um beispielsweise polarisationsabhängige Effekte zu minimieren.

LASER COMPONENTS bietet dafür den deterministischen Polarisationskontroller PSY-201 PolaFlex™ von General Photonics an. Dieser ermöglicht es, die Polarisationsausrichtung des Lichtes in 9/125 μm Singlemodefasern gezielt einzustellen. Dies geschieht durch die Kombination von Polarisations-Steller und Inline-Polarimeter mit ausgefeilten Kontrollalgorithmen. Schwankungen in der Eingangspolarisation regelt der PolaFlex™ so, dass am Ausgang des Instruments der gewünschte und stabilisierte Polarisationszustand vorliegt.

Der PolaFlex™ ist zusätzlich als Polarimeter zur Bestimmung des aktuellen Polarisationszustandes (State of Polarization SOP) und zur Messung des Polarisationsgrades (Degree of Polarization DOP) einsetzbar. Als Polarisation-Synthesizer erzeugt er jeden gewünschten Zustand oder fährt vorprogrammierte Polarisation-Traces auf der Poincaré Kugel ab. Alternativ lässt sich der PolaFlex™ auch als Polarisations-Scrambler nutzen.

Verwendet wird der PolaFlex™ in der optischen Übertragungstechnik oder Fasersensorik zur Charakterisierung der Polarisationseigenschaften optischer Komponenten und Receivern, zur Überwachung des aktuellen Polarisationszustandes oder zur Messung des Polarisations-Extinktionsverhältnisses.
