Bidirectional Measurement in All Networks

JDSU Makes it Possible: Complete Fiber Qualification with One Module

(PresseBox) (Olching, )
More measurement possibilities than ever before: LASER COMPONENTS introduces the FiberCompleteTM 8100 series measurement modules from JDSU. These modules are used with MTS-6000 or MTS-8000 platforms. With just a single measurement port, the following parameters can be determined for fiber qualification at the push of a button - and bidirectionally, i.e., back and forth: Insertion loss (IL), Optical return loss (ORL), and Reflectometer-OTDR measurements with the parameters wavelength, dynamic range, pulse width, dead times.

The FiberCompleteTM modules are thus perfectly suited for the installation, operation, and maintenance of FTTx/PON, access, metro, and wide-area networks.

These modules are available in two different performance classes that differ in dynamic range and event dead zones. Further models take into account the different wavelengths for the corresponding networks.

Via the measurement port used for OTDR measurements, the integrated laser source or power meter can also be switched - either manually or fully automatically. In accordance with the measurement tasks, all results can be directly saved as a report: in acceptance measurements, automatic averaging of the bidirectional (i.e., back and forth) results is also included.

With the FBP-P5000i digital video microscope, which is available on an optional basis, the surface analysis of optical connectors according to IEC 61300-3-35 can be integrated into the report.
