Quick, Flexible Bio-Chemical Substance ID for First Responders, Military and Pervasive Raman Sensing Applications: BaySpec Announces New Software and Library Options for Affordable SafeInspec Handheld Raman Analyzers

BaySpec, Inc., a leader in affordable spectral engines for bio-chemical identification, today announced extended libraries for its SafeInspec-0® and SafeInspec-1® award-winning Handheld Raman instruments.

Running on flexible Windows CE and Windows XP/Vista, BaySpec's "Micro 2020" software platform now offers flexible user-built database and 3rd party library support for over 6,500 Raman spectra, covering polymers, food, solvents, forensics, hazardous substances, pharmaceuticals and fragrances. The use of Windows CE® and Windows XP/Vista environment provides a convenient operating system for viewing and manipulating data.

BaySpec's "Micro 2020" software is unique in that it enables both quantitative and qualitative analysis. Additionally, if new mixtures or compounds are uncovered, the SafeInspec can be used to save and catalog data for building "Raman specific" applications.

Designed to pass MILSPEC-810F for rugged environmental use, the SafeInspec series of Handheld Raman Analyzers feature no moving parts and all-solid state components. Set-up and calibration are fast and repeatable. Measurement results can be made in seconds. BaySpec's fast f/1.8 optics and in-house transmission Volume Phase Gratings (VPG®) allow for higher throughput in a compact package.

BaySpec's SafeInspec analyzers are affordable due to the vertical integration of lasers, spectrographs, detectors and probe. BaySpec's SafeInspec-0 and SafeInspec-1 Raman Analyzers are shipping in volume. SafeInspec Raman Analyzers are available in 532nm, 785nm and 1064nm excitation wavelengths. This allows customers greater flexibility for achieving best results, especially in cases where excess fluorescence is involved.
