Die hohe Genauigkeit des FM-100 liegt in der ladungssensitiven Elektronik und der Hochspannungseinheit mit integrierter Temperaturkompensation begründet. Weitere Gerätehighlights sind zwei getrennte Messkreisläufe sowie der interne Kalibrierstandard.
Selbstverständlich sind auch die verfügbaren Messköpfe (LR-7000-2I und -2S) temperaturstabilisiert. Beide enthalten einen Silizium- bzw. Indium-Gallium-Arsenid-Detektor als primären Sensor sowie einen sekundären Sensor für die Pulsform. Während die Pulsenergie – in elektrische Ladung gewandelt – an das FM-100 Radiometer weitergeleitet wird, kann die Pulsform zeitgleich an einem Oszilloskop verfolgt werden. Eine BIAS Spannung zur Verbesserung der Ansprechgeschwindigkeit ist im Gerät bereits integriert.
