Laser 2000 at CeBit 2009: Innovative solutions for fiber optics and network technology

Laser 2000 offers different products based on new technologies to meet our customer's needs.

(PresseBox) (Wessling, )
Network Technology:
We assist you with simple optics (e.g. SFP, XFP) and complete optical network solutions. Therefore it is necessary to serve the popular manufacturers of network technology. Our com-ponents and systems are compatible and certified for manufacturers like Cisco, HP, Foundry, Nortel, Brocade, McData, QLOGIC and much more.
Laser 2000 operates as an independent consultant and integrator for network technologies focussing on optical communication. We offer solutions in LAN environments but also for ac-cess and metro networks.
As our customer you always stand in first position when finding a solution for your application in network technologies. In cooperation with our partners and manufacturers we search for efficient and fitting solutions to match your project requirements.

Digital Testing:
Digital testing serves to analyze electrical and optical signals at the physical level of modern data and telecommunications systems. In addition, digital testing can be used to establish the characteristics of the selected transmission route. Measurements of optical systems and rou-tes can be realized by using corresponding converters.

Bit error and timing-interval analyzers:
Bit error and timing-interval analyzers serve to analyze the transmission behaviour of data and telecommunications systems at bit level. Bit errors can be determined quantitatively and may be evaluated with regard to quality aspects. Even the origin of an error can be localized. Eye-diagram measurements help to quickly assess measurement results.
New standards in data and telecommunications require receiver measurements with incoming signals to which jitter and noise are deliberately added. Optionally, our 7.5 and 12.5Gb/s bit error and jitter analyzers generate the jitter necessary to characterize receivers in accordance with different stressed receiver sensitivity requirements.

LAN testers:
Our cable testers are part of the LAN testers product line and serve to characterize state-of-the-art twisted pair data lines with regard to the transmission bandwidth, correct cabling, and verification of cable-class conformity. The portfolio also comprises adapters for FC line meas-urements..

Optical Wireless:
These LaserLink systems are enchanced with new, state-of-the-art features that ensure not only the highest performance, but also make them the best-value FSO products on the market. These LaserLinks allow links up to 500 metres to be established rapidly, making them an ideal solution to temporary installation. These units perform at full Ethernet speed and, unlike some radio systems, throughput does not decrease as the operational range is extended.
Free Space Optics (FSO) is a telecommunication technology that uses light propagating in free space to transmit data between two points. The technology is useful where the physical connection of the transmit and receive locations is difficult, for example in cities where the laying of fibre optic cables is expensive.

Millimeter-Wave Radio Solutions:
The AireBeam 60, a Gigabit speed 60GHz millimeter wave radio system, is an ideal solu-tion for wireless Enterprise network applications. Its license free*, highly available, interference free operation offers long-term durability, dependability and ease of use. The AireBeam 60 is available in both MX and LX specifications.

Optical protection, optical switch, fiber security:
Many core and metro networks have already migrated to fiber optics. Fiber optics are also entering the access network arena, reaching the neighbourhood, the premises, the business and the home. New packet technologies create new applications, driving demand for band-width and higher QoS, including high network availability.

All this traffic is enabled by multiple optical resources, which are gathered together to construct a transport network. These resources include fibers, passive optical elements, CPE equipment (routers, switches, line cards), network equipment (transponders, DWDM multi-plexers, optical amplifiers, regenerators), and more. However, it is enough for one of these heterogeneous resources to fail in order to bring the network down, as in the case of fiber cuts during road construction or equipment failure. Backup resources which can quickly take over upon such a failure, are essential to guarantee high network availability.

Optical switching dramatically enhances optical networks and systems, and Laser 2000 offers advanced switching solutions for multiple applications. Lynx has developed solutions that are ideal for specific applications, such as optical protection. These solutions are available in a rich variety of options and configurations.
For customers that prefer to build their own solution, Laser 2000 offers a variety of generic switching building blocks and tools. These modules are based on the highly reliable and flexi-ble PLC switching technology.

Intelligent Optical Switches:
Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switches provide superior solutions to Create, Monitor and Protect optical light paths. Never before has it been possible to manage optical fibers with such precision, flexibility and ease. The New Optical Internet has arrived.

Rollouts of video and streaming media services by carriers and content providers are driving a world-wide bandwidth demand that is exploding - known as the 'Exaflood' for the exponential growth in Internet traffic. Managing this flood of data and fiber is a major and growing problem. Carriers are looking to Intelligent Optical Switching to meet the needs today and in the future.

Glimmerglass solutions provide the capability to create, monitor and protect fiberoptic light paths. Customers employ Glimmerglass solutions in five major application areas providing dramatic reductions in operational expenses, OPEX, and capital expenses, CAPEX, while increasing network capacity.

Laser 2000 GmbH

Laser 2000 Fiberoptic has different branches of activity where all of them are dedicated to fiber optics or photonics. In the fiberoptics field Laser 2000's offering comprises a large variety. Starting from optical patchcords, attenuators and transceivers like GBICs and SFPs it ranges to easy to deploy CWDM and DWDM solutions. Laser 2000 offers additionally test and meas-urement equipment for installers and operators of fiber optical networks.
