Robust and precise: LAP presents line lasers for tire manufacturing

LAP will showcase the highlights at the Tire Technology Expo 2017 in Hanover (booth 8040)

Extremely robust, precise and reliable", this is how Christoph Kähler, product manager for line lasers at LAP, describes the advantages of LAP’s laser technology for harsh production environments. For more than 25 years, LAP has been manufacturing high-quality laser systems for the tire building industry. The product range covers "SERVOLASER tireXpert" positioning systems with movable laser modules as well as line lasers for industrial applications. LAP will showcase the highlights of its successful line laser portfolio for tire manufacturing at the Tire Technology Expo 2017 in Hanover, February 14 to 16 (booth 8040).
 
The “SERVOLASER tireXpert” with movable laser lines is an extremely versatile positioning system. Based on more than 25 years of experience, the system is being used successfully at leading tire manufacturers worldwide. It allows precise positioning of the rubber webs at tire building machines and covers moving ranges from 0.6 meters for passenger tires up to 2.60 meters for off-the-road (OTR) tires. Moreover, it provides a hitherto unmatched projection accuracy of +/- 0.018 millimeters at a distance of 1.0 meter.

The line laser “LAP HD green” is designed for fixed installations at tire building machines, but it is also ideally suited for applications in the steel and food industry: “With its high-quality stainless steel housing, the HD withstands even the most harsh industry conditions. It is dustproof and can tolerate temporary submersion in water in accordance with IP67. Thanks to its compact design and its advanced inbuilt electronics, the line laser is very flexible in use. Apart from this, it is maintenance-free,” says Christoph Kähler.

The line laser HD green and the SERVOLASER tireXpert offer laser sources with up to 30,000 hours service life – three times the service life of conventional DPSS laser modules. Tire makers can benefit greatly from this technology in an effort to increase process reliability while reducing operating costs.
