“It was a very successful event for us. Our CONTOUR CHECK systems for inline measurement for long products received a great response from buyers at the show. Thanks to the customers and partners who visited our booth,” says Tom Campbell, General Manager, LAP Laser, LLC.

LAP is particularly pleased and proud to announce that the company has been awarded a contract from Alton Steel Inc for the delivery of two CONTOUR CHECK EDGE systems. Alton Steel is a SBQ steel manufacturer, based in Alton, Illinois. The systems will be installed in the 14” rolling mill. “The order marks a great success for LAP and we thank Alton Steel Inc for its confidence in LAP and its products,” states Tom Campbell.

The CONTOUR CHECK EDGE is a 2-6 axes contour measuring system for hot-rolled round and square profiles. The system uses a set of sensors on a circular oscillating baseplate. This way square, flat or hexagonal profiles can also be handled.

The CONTOUR CHECK EDGE is one of the four models of the advanced CONTOUR CHECK system (CC EDGE, CC ROUND, CC SHAPE, and CC PROFILE) CONTOUR CHECK allows for 100 percent inline contour measurement, detection of rolling defects, and dimensional surface inspection of long products, helping to increase efficiency and to ensure product quality at rolling mills during production.

LAP provides a range of non-contact measurement systems for long and flat products, tubes, profiles or special shapes in the steel industries. Amongst the highlights at the steel industry's tradeshow, LAP also showcased a laser thickness measurement system of the CALIX series for flat products as well as its portfolio of line lasers and laser projection systems.
