Labotect incubation technique - Quality made in Germany

(PresseBox) (Rosdorf, )
Incubation technique is one of the key areas of Labotect. The benefit of our CO2 incubators is perfect contamination control by most modern technical solutions. They combine high safety standards with convenient design. Very fast recovery times for all adjustable parameters are basic features in all Labotect incubators. Well-conceived accessories are available, such as Gas In-Line-Filters, monitoring software, pH monitoring and a measuring device for the control of CO2, O2 and temperature.

Labotect incubators – your first choice for excellent cell cultivation

Labotect offers incubators in various sizes for different fields of application from large format incubators with 200 l volume (C200 and C201) and with 60 l volume (C60) to the smaller version C16 with 16 l volume and the benchtop incubator Labo C-Top with 2 independent chambers. There are different options to customize the incubator; e.g. O2-control, lockable lids or door, subdivided doors or an access port (only for large format incubators).

To minimize the contamination risk from the start, all Labotect large format CO2 incubators (C60, C200 and C201) feature an active sterile humidity supply, whereby sterile water is vaporized from an external water reservoir at 120 °C into the interior. Due to the over-all direct heating of the inner walls and door, the temperature is distributed homogeneously, resulting in dry inner doors and effectively prevented condensation points for a minimum risk of contamination. The shelves and ductwork of all incubators (not applied for the benchtop incubator) are easily removable and autoclavable at 121 °C and the electro-polished stainless steel interior has coved corners to guarantee an easy cleaning and a perfect possible sterilization. For a very precise measurement, a Labotect CO2 incubator has a dual beam infrared sensor to measure the CO2 concentration. This sensor provides very long-term stable measurements and is – in contrast to thermo conductivity sensors - independent from temperature and humidity. Additionally, the Labo C201 has a particle filter (P3) within its airflow and all large format incubators can implement the recommended external Gas In-Line-Filter for the removal of organic contaminants from gases induced into the incubator. To ensure highest quality standards, each of Labotect’s incubators passes an individual cell test before delivery.

UV decontamination in CO2 incubator

To ensure highest safety standards in your laboratory and for your cells, every precaution against contamination should receive your attention. A CO2 incubator should be cleansed previous to every new load to prevent cross-contamination. Besides the classical disinfection by wiping, an UV decontamination routine can offer additional security for your cultures. For this reason and to facilitate your daily laboratory routine, Labotect has equipped its latest incubator with an UV-decontamination routine.

Labotect’s newest: the Labo C201 has a decontamination cycle by short wave UV-C-radiation which lasts 180 minutes and is to be started individually. If the door is opened, the process will stop immediately to prevent contact with the UV radiation. The menu guided 7’’ color touch display of the C201 shows all important information at first view. All parameters are displayed graphically for the last 2 or 24 h. For your security against unauthorized door opening, the Labo C201 has an optional access control via numerical code on the touch screen with a mechanical unlocking in case of power failure (emergency release). A serial access port for an easy installation of additional devices (e.g. pH meter) is present.

Continuous pH monitoring in large format incubators

For additional safety, Labotect now offers the SAFE Sens® system for continuous pH monitoring in large format incubators. The SAFE Sens® technology utilizes a patented and proven LED-based optical fluorescent system which reliably monitors the pH-value of small amounts of culture media. The independent, non-invasive system is intuitive and easy to use and install. A small sterile and disposable sv2-sensor is placed within the incubator and connected to a SAFE Sens® TrakPod™, which automatically sends real time data of the pH-value every minute or every 30 minutes to a TrakStation™ for up to 7 days without the need of removing samples or opening of the incubator’s door. It is possible to connect up to 8 TrakPods™ to one TrakStation™, therefore 8 incubators can be connected simultaneously. The included software contains data recording capabilities and a function for automatic alerts by email. With the automatic calibration via the SAFE Sens® qc2 alignment tool, no costly, time-consuming calibration and no outside calibration services are required.
