With four divisions at Auto Expo
On a fair booth of almost 100 square meters, KSPG will be showcasing products for emission reduction such as electric and pneumatic EGRs as well as EGR radiator modules for a Euro 4 application. Pierburg Pump Technology GmbH, a specialist in automotive pumps, will be presenting pneumatic water and vacuum pumps as well as variable on-demand oil pumps for reduced fuel consumption and less CO2 emissions. KS Gleitlager GmbH is presenting its entire product range of high-duty plain bearings.
Guenter Maassen, Senior Business Development Manager Asia Pacific, says about the participation at Auto Expo: "In India, Made in Germany enjoys very high prestige and so we expect a large turnout at the German Pavilion. We will mainly be displaying products from our Indian plant, presently in use by OEMs and fulfilling current emission standards."
Since back in 2007, Pierburg has operated a production location Pierburg India Private Limited in Pune, where components for emission reduction as well as pumps for the Indian automotive industry are made.
Only in October of this year, had KSPG taken over the plain bearing operations of Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd. (KOEL) in Pune. KOEL is also India's biggest producer of plain bearings and focuses mainly on the Indian home market. The company has more than sixty years of experience in producing plain bearings, and, with around 600 employees at the production locations Ahmednagar and Pune, generated sales of about €20 million in this sector in fiscal 2010/11. The KOEL range of plain bearings comprises bearings, bushings and thrust washers for engines, mainly for the passenger and commercial vehicle as well as the agricultural machinery sectors. Among the company's customers are Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and Hyundai, Ford and Honda. The aftermarket is also supplied.
Two further KSPG subsidiaries are also operating in India: KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH holds 20 percent in India's Shriram Pistons & Rings Ltd. The piston producers share a longstanding partnership, in which the Indian company successfully manufactures Kolbenschmidt pistons under license.
KS Aluminium-Technologie GmbH (ATAG) within the Group specializes in engine blocks and cylinder heads and bolsters its market presence through a license agreement with Jaya Hind Industries Ltd. in Pune. The agreement covers the development and production of cylinder heads, crankcases, bedplates and additional castings for national and international carmakers as well as other automotive vendors.
This is already the eleventh Auto Expo-an event regarded as a trendsetter for future technologies in the Indian automotive and engine sector-comparable to the IAA in Frankfurt. According to estimates, the booming Indian motor vehicle market will rank internationally #3 by 2030. In 2009 and despite the financial crisis, 2.1 million and in 2010, altogether 2.4 million motor vehicles were sold in India.
